Stay Healthy and Become More Active

There is a lot of information available online about living a healthy lifestyle but what exactly does living a healthy lifestyle mean? In general, a person with a healthy lifestyle doesn’t smoke, has a healthy balanced weight, eats clean and exercises regularly. Sounds simple right?

Well the trick is to take small baby steps and make small changes until your there. Small things such as adding fruit to your cereal for breakfast or having a couple extra glasses of water everyday can make a big difference in your overall health. Here are some key points about being active to start being a healthier you without having to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle.

Exercise Benefits and Simple Ways to Start Moving

One of the biggest problems we face today is lack of activity. Everyone’s knows that being active is good for you but no one seems to be motivated to get on top of it. A lot of people think that being active has to be vigorous to be worth while. This is false. The truth is, movement is movement and the more you move the healthier your body will be. Even simple activities like chores, making food, and gardening can make a difference.

Adding a little bit more activity in your life can…

  • Reduce the rick of heart disease and other ailments such as diabetes and stroke
  • Enhance ones self esteem
  • Reduce stress levels
  • Maintain Bone Density
  • Increase your range of motion
  • Put you in a better mood and reduce anxiety and depression
  • Become more flexible

Simple ways to move your body…

  • Spend less time watching TV and participate in something a little more physical with your family or friends. Play a board game or go for a short walk. Almost anything will be more active then just sitting in front of the tube.
  • Walk whenever you can and have free time. Go for a walk to check the mail or simply go for a walk around the block and get some fresh air. Take the dog out for an extended period of time and think about your goals.
  • Get on top of doing your chores more frequently.  Getting some gardening done, shoveling the driveway, raking leaves, sweeping or mopping the floor. There activities may not be to tough to do but they will keep you moving while getting your home in order. It will also feel great knowing that your getting things done and knocked off the list of things to do.
  • Become more aware of your laziness.  Write down all the physical activities you participate in everyday. If you find that you spend most of your time sitting down rather then being active make another list of all the ways you can do more physical activities.
  • Research and learn about more ways to move your body.
